“A Beverage Like No Other” Highlights the Pride, Passion & Impact Behind Every Canadian Beer Poured
Toronto, ON — October 8, 2025 - Today, Canadians from coast to coast celebrate the 7th annual Canadian Beer Day, celebrating “A Beverage Like No Other”.
Canadians are rightly proud of our iconic beverage’s positive contributions to the country’s cultural, economic, and social fabric. From the barley fields to the brew kettles, from local pubs to bustling city breweries, Canadian Beer Day celebrates the full, interconnected story of Canadian beer and its roots in agriculture, its craftsmanship, innovation and its role in bringing people and communities together.
“Canadian beer is more than a thirst-quenching flavourful adult beverage, it is part of who we are as Canadians. On Canadian Beer Day, we celebrate the farmers, brewers, maltsters, bartenders, retailers, delivery drivers, hospitality workers, and countless others who help bring beer from grains-to-glass,” said CJ Hélie, President of Beer Canada.
More than just a celebration, Canadian Beer Day shines a spotlight on beer’s powerful economic, cultural, and social impact, connecting communities large and small, urban and rural, from coast to coast. And with choices spanning classic lagers, seasonal ales, and innovative low- and no-alcohol brews, there’s a Canadian beer for every taste, moment, and occasion.
Economic & Social Impact at a Glance
- Proudly serving Canadians, 88% of the beer Canadians enjoy is brewed right here at home, making our brewers a driving force in Canada’s agri-food economy.
- There are over 1,300 breweries operating across the country, collectively employing more than 24,000 Canadians and supporting 149,000 jobs across brewing, hospitality, and logistics.
- The brewing industry contributes substantially to Canada’s economy through primary beverage manufacturing, direct and indirect tax revenues, well-paying employment, and support for affiliated upstream and downstream sectors (hospitality, tourism, agriculture, and transportation).
- At 46% of the retail price, Canada’s beer taxes are higher than those in other great beer producing nations and the highest of any G7 country.
- Canadian Beer Day highlights the role local breweries play not just as producers, but as community hubs, gathering spaces, and local institutions.
