Event: Canadian Beer Day 2025
Date: October 8, 2025
Interview opportunity: CJ Hélie, President of Beer Canada is available to discuss the role of Canadian beer in Canada’s national identity, economy, culture, heritage, and community well-being.
On October 8, 2025, Canadians will raise a glass to celebrate the 7th annual Canadian Beer Day, honouring our nation’s most iconic and popular adult beverage with this year’s theme: “A Beverage Like No Other.”
From its grains-to-glass journey starting on the farm, to its role in bringing friends, family, neighbours or co-workers together, to its economic impact across the country, Canadian beer truly is a beverage like no other.
Canadian Beer Day is also a celebration of all involved throughout beer’s local value-added supply chain, including barley farmers, maltsters, brewers, retailers, bartenders, delivery drivers, and hospitality workers.
More than a celebration, Canadian Beer Day highlights beer’s positive economic, cultural, and social impact in communities large and small, urban and rural, from coast-to-coast. And with choices ranging from classic lagers to seasonal ales to new low- and no-alcohol options, there’s a Canadian beer perfect for any taste or occasion.
Key Facts About Canadian Beer:
- The brewing industry is fundamentally local: 88% of the beer consumed by Canadians is made here, making Canadian beer a true leader amongst Canada’s agri-food processing sector.
- There are over 1,300 breweries operating across Canada, offering diversity in style and innovation. Canadian brewers directly employ more than 24,000 Canadians and support 149,000 jobs from coast to coast to coast.
- The brewing industry contributes substantially to Canada’s economy through primary beverage manufacturing, direct and indirect tax revenues, well-paying employment, and support for affiliated upstream and downstream sectors (hospitality, tourism, agriculture, and transportation).
- At 46% of the retail price, Canada’s beer taxes are higher than those in other great beer producing nations and the highest of any G7 country.
- Canadian Beer Day underscores the role breweries play not just as producers, but as community hubs, gathering spaces, and local institutions.
